JD: Content Lead (Hindi), Guru
Location - Bengaluru (in Office)
About Guru and the role
* Guru is Kuku Group's micro-learning and edutainment app.
* Guru is now building a slate of dramatized nonfiction: true stories told with the pacing and payoff of drama. The genres are true crime, biographies, Indian history, and mythology. Most shows are produced with AI tools, shaped by human writers, directors, editors and sound engineers.
* We're hiring a Content Lead (Hindi) to run this at scale. You'll decide what we make, get it delivered on time and within budget through our in-house teams and partner agencies, and push the quality of every script and every cut.
Roles and responsibilities
* Build and run the monthly content slate for Guru.
* Pick topics with evidence. Use search trends, social conversation, competitor catalogues and our own completion and conversion data, alongside your editorial instinct.
* Kill or reshape shows early when the pilot data says so.
* Own the production calendar from brief to publish, for in-house teams and external agencies.
* Set up a pipeline with clear stages (research, script, storyboard, generation, edit, sound, QC, publish), owners and turnaround times, and keep it moving.
* Give clear, specific notes on story outlines, scripts, storyboards, rough cuts and sound mixes.
* Hold the bar on the things that drive retention in short episodic video: the opening hook, cliffhangers, pacing and emotional payoff.
* Build a in-house style for Guru's dramatized nonfiction: voice, narration, visual treatment, music and title conventions.
* Make sure every story is accurate and well researched. Dramatisation can heighten a moment, but it can't invent facts about real people/popular beliefs.
* Work with AI directors and generation artists on look, character consistency, shot design and continuity.
* Know what current AI video, image and voice tools do well and where they break, so your notes are practical.
* Track new tools and model updates with the production team, and decide what is worth adopting.
* Help maintain the show bibles and workflow rules that keep AI output consistent across episodes.
* Find, brief and manage writers, agencies and freelancers. Negotiate rates and contracts.
* Own the content budget and cost per finished minute, and know the unit economics of every show.
* Decide what to make in-house and what to outsource, based on cost, speed and quality.
* Lead and grow a team of content producers and writers, plus a wider network of freelancers.
* Work closely with growth and performance marketing on launches, promos and what the data is telling us.
Who you are
* 4+ years in content: OTT, audio series, digital video, publishing or a content studio, with at least 2 years owning delivery of a slate or show, not just single pieces.
* A track record of managing writers, editors and agencies.
* Strong story instinct for nonfiction. You know how to find the drama in a real event without bending the facts.
* Hands-on familiarity with AI video, image and voice tools. You've used tools like Kling, Veo, Runway, Higgsfield or ElevenLabs enough to know their limits, even if you won't operate them day to day.
* Good to have: experience in true crime, biography, history or mythology content, or in short episodic formats such as microdramas or audio series.
* Good to have: experience with subscription content businesses and how content drives trial and conversion.
